About the Group

Our Approach and Model

This group is a clinically-focused group that is informed by and pulls from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy,  Narrative Therapy, and Child-Parent Psychotherapy models. It is structured as an "Open" group, meaning participants can join the group at any time in the 10-week cycle.  Each cycle is 10 sessions, with 8 sessions having a structure or topic presented by the group clinicians and two of the groups being open to address any unique themes or challenges of the group, or to re-visit a helpful theme we have already discussed.

Currently, the group meets weekly on Tuesdays from 11:00am-12:30pm virtually.

In addition to the 10 sessions, each participant will have an "Intake Session" with one of the group clinicians. This session is a private 1:1 time to make sure the group is right for you, learn about you, your baby(ies), and your specific needs so that we can fold those into the group treatment model. Each participant has their own set of treatment goals that are addressed using the group therapy format.

Session topics include:

Birth Story

Relationships & Sex

Identifying Stress & Triggers

Coping with Stress & Triggers

Psychoeducation about Postpartum Mood Disorders

Understanding Historical Influences on Parenting

Self Care

Cost

This group was historically offered on a sliding scale fee model and will return to this model in the future. Currently, we  received a grant through the State of Vermont and the group will be offered at a free or significantly reduced cost through at least June 2024.

We ask that participants attend all 10 sessions consecutively. You may repeat the 10-week cycle at any time.

There are no refunds or make-up dates for missed groups so that we can accurately offer start dates to referral sources and new participants. If a group is cancelled by the facilitators for any reason, a makeup date will be offered. Participants may repeat the 10-week cycle.
